The Adopted Tendring Local Plan

Section 1 of the ‘Tendring District Local Plan 2013-2033’ and Beyond was formally adopted on 26th January 2021. This part of the plan sets out the strategic growth requirements for the area, and includes the new garden community to the east of Colchester, which falls within Tendring District. This garden community was originally put forward and promoted by ADP.  

Section 2 of the ‘Tendring District Local Plan 2013-2033’ and Beyond was formally adopted on 25th January 2022. This section provides the more detailed planning policies that are more commonly used in most planning applications. There are a number of positive planning policies that could provide future development opportunities in the District. In particular, they is a self-build and custom-build homes policy that allows this type of development on land outside of the settlement boundaries, subject to certain criteria.
