Planning Appeal Allowed for New Houses in the Green Belt near Basildon

Infill development Basildon Green Belt .jpg

We are delighted to have secured planning permission, via a planning appeal for two new dwellings on the outskirts of Billericay in Basildon Borough.

Basildon Council had refused planning permission on the basis that they believed the proposed development would be inappropriate development in the Green Belt, and would detrimentally impact upon the openness of the Green Belt. We developed a robust case that demonstrated that the Council’s reasoning was misplaced, and that the proposed scheme did indeed meet planning policy requirements.

An area of contention was whether the settlement in question constituted a village for planning purposes. We supplied the Planning Inspector with detailed evidence to demonstrate that, contrary to the claims of the Council, the site did fall within the village. The Planning Inspector supported our evidence and agreed with our argument that infill development in the Green Belt is acceptable where the site forms part of a village.

Now that outline planning has been secured, the next stage for this project will be Reserved Matters application. We look forward to seeing the detailed plans develop.
