Planning Permission Approved for Refurbishment works to a Bungalow in Tiptree

We are very pleased that Colchester Borough Council has approved planning permission for refurbishments, alterations and an extension to a bungalow in Tiptree, Essex.

The existing two-bedroom bungalow was very tired in appearance, with a dominating garage to the front, which was characteristic of the time in which was built. The internal layout was also inefficient and resulted in very poor circulation space, with rooms being access from other rooms.

A D P were asked to redesign the property with the aim of creating a space that meets the needs for modern 21st Century living. We were able to create a welcoming entrance hallway with a central corridor that provides easy access to all the habitable rooms. A new kitchen dinning room was created with an open access to a well proportioned living area that looks out over the garden area. An additional bedroom was created with an en-suite, whilst the family bathroom was increased in size to provide an appropriate space suitable for the needs of the home.

The refurbishment works included extensive alterations to the external appearance of the building to give it a more traditional appearance. The articulation of the front elevation was achieved by introducing a smooth render to the gable end, and adding two large multi paned windows. The side elements were finished with a facing brick, with a brick plinth. The rear elevation was designed to provide maximum light to the living areas with full width bi-fold doors serving the living room and the kitchen-diner.

The works have greatly enhanced the visual appearance of the existing building and provided a comfortable living arrangement to suit modern living, but with sufficient flexibility to allow the house to adapt to future changing needs. If you are thinking about renovating and refurbishing your home, please contact us at mail@adpltd.co.uk.
