Planning Permission secured for a Holiday Let in Whitstable, Kent

We are delighted that Canterbury City Council has granted planning approval for the change of use of an outbuilding into a self-contained holiday-let unit.

Despite some local concern, we put forward a strong planning case to justify the holiday-let accommodation at this location, and Canterbury City Council accepted and supported the proposed scheme and the tourism benefits it would bring to the area.

The Existing Building

The existing building comprised an outbuilding, used as a gym and home office, within the garden of an existing residential property.

The Holiday Accommodation - The Planning Position

The proposed development is located within the urban area of Whitstable and is within a sustainable location with good access to public transport, walking and cycling routes for visitors. We were therefore able to demonstrate that the proposal would in principle accord with the Council’s adopted planning policies.

We were also able to demonstrate that the proposed change of use would not impact upon the amenity of any neighbouring properties as there would be no excess noise or overlooking and there would be sufficient on-plot parking to accommodate the visitors.
