Planning Permission Granted for Ground-Mounted Solar Panels

We are delighted to have secured planning permission for 128 no. ground mounted solar panels on land at a garden centre near Colchester, Essex.

The proposed solar panels were required to support an existing commercial business and particularly to generate electricity to serve the existing buildings.

The key characteristics of the proposed scheme included:

  • The solar panel system will be mounted on a single axis tracking frame.

  • The solar panel system will comprise 16 no. 8 panel ground mounted single axis frames.

  • Each solar panel will generate 48kW of power.

During the planning application process we engaged with the planning officers and demonstrated to them that planning permission should be granted because:

  • The proposed siting of the solar panels had been carefully considered to ensure that they will not be clearly evident in any views from the wider area.

  • The site is well screened by existing landscaping.

  • The closest residential property is over 30m from the site, so there won’t be any impact upon residential amenity.

  • The proposed scheme would deliver significant renewable energy, with each panel achieving 48kWp.
