Heritage Development Approved in Uttlesford, Essex

We are delighted to have secured planning permission for a large outbuilding and residential annexe in the grounds of a listed building in Uttlesford, Essex.

The Proposed outbuilding within the setting of a Listed Building

The application site comprises a large detached two-storey Listed dwelling situated in large grounds in a rural location in North Essex.

The Listed house currently comprises a timber-framed cottage that once part of a grandeur estate. This cottage contains a well-preserved late-16th or early-17th-century timber-framed  parlour  cross-wing and once formed part of the manor.

The proposed scheme sought a circa 85 sqm residential annexe comprising a bedroom, home office, storage and a large multi-functional space. The proposals also included a new cartlodge with workshop and garage.

The site contained a number of dilapidated out buildings including a piggery and garage building. It was proposed that these are demolished to make way for the proposed scheme. The new outbuildings would sit on a broadly comparable footprint.

These buildings were sympathetically designed to resemble rural outbuildings that would have been expected at this site.

We are pleased that Uttlesford District Council agreed that the proposal would respects the size, scale and setting of the Listed dwelling, and subsequently approved the application.
